What are Superfoods?
Superfoods are simply natural foods , but with much higher concentrations of nutrients than the fruits and vegetables we all know. Superfoods are natural foods that have been used throughout human history by indigenous peoples in South America, Africa and Asia.
Superfoods are still used as normal everyday food in countries where the centuries-old traditions have not been forgotten. In the West, we have forgotten the special natural food that nature offers us. In the West, we have increasingly lost contact with nature over time. A Superfood is therefore not a new product that has only been used in recent years.
The only new thing is the term 'Superfood'. It's more of a marketing term that has done more harm than good in the last few years.
Why are Superfoods so special?
As previously stated , the average Superfood contains much higher concentrations of essential nutrients than the fruits and vegetables we can find on the market.
Because the concentrations are high, we only need a small dose (half a teaspoon to a tablespoon) of a superfood.
Some facts that determine why a particular superfood is better than the average fruit or vegetable:
One teaspoon of powder of the superfood Camu Camu has about as much vitamin C as 10 oranges .
Cocoa powder is one of the highest natural sources of antioxidants and many essential minerals such as Magnesium. It has almost 40 times more antioxidants than blueberries .
Maca is a Superfood and is a root vegetable that can balance and regulate our hormones with the important substances that it contains. A lot of complaints that we have today are because our hormones are not in balance.
Why should you use Superfoods?
Above is described why a Superfood can be special. But actually it is the human body that makes a superfood so special.
If the body is given the right substances , we can easily live to be 100 years old without serious illnesses and diseases. The body can then care for, maintain and heal itself. We can all grow old with a young body.
The problem is that we do not get all the necessary substances. A second problem is that we get too many unwanted substances. As a result, the body cannot function optimally.
Due to accelerated and incorrect production processes, incorrect preparation methods and pollution, the nutrients in our food have decreased significantly.
Unfortunately, in the Netherlands, the decrease is not taken into account and 2 pieces of fruit and 2 ounces of vegetables are still recommended. In the US, it is communicated and 8 to 13 pieces of fruit and vegetables are recommended!
Eating so many fruits and vegetables every day is almost impossible due to the costs and applicability in daily life.
Superfoods can offer the solution . Small doses of a number of superfoods per day are affordable and very easy to apply .
How can I use the Superfoods?
Superfoods are just food. Superfoods can therefore be used in everyday meals such as; breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert.
Because we want to preserve the nutrients in the superfoods, it is recommended to heat it as little as possible .
